The Internal Carnivore Journey

Changing the food on your plate is only one part of changing the way you eat.

For many people, choosing carnivore challenges decades of beliefs about food, health and what it means to eat "well." You may understand the information intellectually and still find that another part of you isn't quite convinced.

Perhaps you've had thoughts like:

  • Surely eating this much fat can't be healthy.
  • A meal without vegetables doesn't feel right.
  • I know what I've read, but I'm still worried about cholesterol.
  • What if I do this for years and discover I've damaged my health?
  • Everyone around me thinks this way of eating is extreme.
  • I've failed at diets before. What makes me think this will be different.

These thoughts don't necessarily disappear simply because you've learned something new.

Knowing Something & Believing it Are Two Different Things

Most of our beliefs about food weren't consciously chosen.

They were built gradually through family, school, advertising, health campaigns, doctors, diet culture, media and years of hearing the same messages repeated.

Eventually, ideas such as fat is bad, vegetables are essential, red meat should be limited or eating less is always better can stop feeling like beliefs at all. They simply feel true.

So when you begin eating in a way that contradicts those messages, it's not surprising if part of you resists. You can know why you've chosen carnivore and still hesitate before eating the fat. You can feel better and still worry that what you're doing can't possibly be healthy.

You can decide you don't want to eat carbs and still find yourself reaching for them.

That's where the deeper work begins.

When Food Becomes More Than Food

Our relationship with food can also carry beliefs and emotions that have very little to do with nutrition. Food can mean comfort, reward, celebration, control, belonging, love, rebellion or safety.

You may recognise thoughts such as:

  • I've had a hard day. I deserve something sweet.
  • I don't want to be difficult when everyone else is eating normally.
  • One little bit won't matter.
  • I've already broken the diet, so I may as well start again Monday.
  • I have no willpower.

Sometimes changing what we eat exposes patterns that have been quietly operating for years. Understanding those patterns can make change very different from simply trying harder.

From Vegan or Vegetarian to Carnivore

For someone coming from a vegan or vegetarian background, the transition can go much deeper again. I understand this personally. After many years of believing that avoiding animal foods was one of the healthiest choices I could make, reconsidering those beliefs meant questioning ideas that had once felt completely settled.

For some people, eating meat again can bring up guilt, sadness, disgust, fear of judgement or even a sense that they're betraying their values or the person they used to be.

Questions can arise such as:

  • What does changing my mind say about me?
  • How can I eat animals after believing this was wrong?
  • What will people think after everything I've said about eating meat?
  • Was I wrong all those years?

Changing your mind doesn't invalidate who you were. It simply means you're allowing yourself to reconsider your choices in light of what you know and experience today.

Learning To Trust Yourself Again

Underneath many of these beliefs is an even bigger question: Can I trust myself?

After decades of being told what, when and how much to eat, it can feel surprisingly unfamiliar to listen to your own body.

Thrive Coaching isn't about replacing one collection of rigid food rules with another. It's about recognising the beliefs and conditioning influencing your choices, overcoming those that are holding you back, and developing greater confidence in yourself.

This is the Work I Love

For 15 years I've worked professionally with subconscious beliefs, limiting beliefs, emotional blocks and behavioural patterns. When I began my own carnivore journey, I realised that the skills I'd spent years using with clients were remarkably relevant to this very different area of my life.

Because sometimes the challenge isn't knowing what to eat. It's letting go of everything you've believed about eating.

Thrive with Keryn sessions help carnivores and the carnivore-curious overcome the fears, limiting beliefs and nutritional conditioning that can make changing the way they eat so difficult — so they can let go of old conditioning around food, trust themselves and their body, and feel confident in their choices.

Thrive with Keryn

Every session is different because the beliefs and patterns we carry are individual.

During our sessions, I draw on techniques from ThetaHealing and other modalities I've worked with over many years. These approaches can help us move beyond the surface issue to identify the deeper beliefs, emotional patterns and subconscious conditioning that may be influencing your choices.

You don't need any previous experience with this work. I'll guide you through the process, using the techniques that are most appropriate for what comes up during your session.

The aim is simple: to identify what's holding you back, change the beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you, and help you move forward with greater confidence and self-trust.
